Jack Driftwood is heading into his 18th year as linebacker for the Buffalo Blizzard of the North American Football Association (NAFA). Buffalo has not been to the playoffs since his rookie year, but things are looking up as Steven Stark, their top draft pick, under Jack’s tutelage, is expected to help change their fortunes. The Blizzard's 93-year old owner, Gerald Wainscott III, has brought his daughter, Gerry, into the fold to take over the team after he passes. The team's GM, Donald Fegel, has his eyes on taking her and the team for himself, but Driftwood may have something to say about that. Intense battles ensue, both on and off the field, as Buffalo makes a run at the Mega Bowl title.

A really fun and entertaining read for sports lovers and action lovers alike! Driftwood has such a great storyline and characters, this is something I can picture as a movie. The Blizzard's owner, Gerald Wainscott III, as well as Jack Driftwood are getting up there in age for their positions and some people think it's time for a change. In comes Donald Fegel, who is hardworking, yet has his own questionable ways of doing things. It isn't easy for him though when he tries to take over the team. Overall, this was a really great book that I would highly recommend!Product details

Driftwood is not like other football books, it is a football experience.
It was great.
Ok, I does get a bit far fetched and there were some plot lines left hanging, but all in all, I was entertained by this read. I believe that's what the author intended!

Very Good Read. Funny with lots of football, romance, and sub plots!! Lots more than just football. Lots of characters with a variety of back grounds. It's like the football version of the "The Natural"....baseball movie!! Lots of action on every page!!
Let me preface this by saying that I am Not a Football Fan! I saw Ray Bentley on a local TV station in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and his book sounded interesting, so I downloaded a sample on my iPad, then decided to buy the book! I was NOT Disappointed! I Really Liked the Story, and the characters, AND his writing style kept me interested And I got a few good laughs! The Only reason that I gave it 4 stars out of 5, is that some of the Football descriptions made me "glaze over", because, as I said, I'm Not a Football fan! Some however, were Very Interesting, so go Figure! I HOPE he write another book because I AM a Fan of His writing!
Football, action, crime and love. Ray Bentley uses a fictional version of a place he and many of his fans know very well to float across genres and spin a riveting yarn. Buffalo Bills fans likely will have a little more to relate to in this one, but fans of any team will easily find reason to be captivated with an insider's take on a professional football locker room. While this is certainly a main element, the human side of protagonist Jack Driftwood off the field is just as good. Sprinkle in some crime drama and scenes any action film would envy and you end up with a winding road. But don't worry, everything ties in beautifully at the end with the sub plots coming full circle.
